A couple of months ago I announced a model call for a couple of maternity sessions. I wanted to expand my maternity portfolio and was looking for two families. I was overwhelmed by the number of enquiries I had! It was a hard decision to select the final families and thank you to all of you who contacted me. Over the last year, I have mainly been photographing newborn babies and families. I was therefore very keen to photograph the beginning of the family story. I fall in love with those sessions and here is the reason why I love taking maternity photo sessions.
To me family is everything and I wouldn’t be able to live without them. Family is the little things you do for each other. It is caring for one another and making sure your family is safe. It’s a gift to watch my family grow and show them how beautiful life can be when you have each other.
I remember when I first fell pregnant with Sophie, I was so happy. It was incredible to see how this little human was growing inside me. I remember the first butterfly moves and first hiccups. Her first kicks were very strong too and I loved when I was placing my hands on the bump to feel them.
My husband took pictures of me during my pregnancy and they are so precious to me. We did the same when I was pregnant with Hanna. All pictures are now either hanging on our walls or are printed in family albums.
The maternity session with Steve and Helen was beautiful. We had the best weather and the location was just perfect. I was so happy to capture the love they have for each other and their baby growing inside Helen. I also saw so many little moments they shared. Little whispers in the ear and gentle touches. When I’ve asked Helen to look at Steve, she always had this lovely smile on her face which was beautiful to observe.
At the end of the session, I also asked Steve and Helen to give each other “their hug”. This was one of the best moments of the session and I felt their love at that moment so much! Steve also said, “that’s nice” and they looked so happy.
I love creating memories for you and your loved ones. I am always privileged when you allow me to enter to your family life and freeze those special moments for you. Memories are all we have and photographs are keeping them alive. Being able to show your children and grandchildren your life through photos will always be the most special moment in my life and I hope in yours too. This is why I love taking maternity photo sessions 🙂
