One of my recent session was with Kayleigh and her family. Kayleigh is expecting her second baby very soon. I was so happy I could capture this special time during our maternity photo session. I have chosen this family from my maternity model call. They were amazing and great to work with.
Before each photo session with my clients, I make sure they are prepared as much as I am. I always send a client questionnaire to find out a little more about the family. The questionnaire also helps me engage with the children. They always trust you a little more if you know all about dinosaurs, cars or princesses. My second important thing to say to clients is the wardrobe. My client welcome guide is packed full of advice and helpful tips. I also sent clients a Pinterest board to get inspiration.
When Kayleigh sent me photos of potential outfits it was all nice layered with options for her, husband and their daughter. We worked together and decided on a lovely combination of salmon, blue and red colours which just worked perfectly.
We started our session by having some photographs of mum and Lottie. When I asked whether she knows if mum is carrying a baby boy or baby girl she said that the bump is called “Jelly”. I always love to hear special bump names and speaking to little ones about them is fun and memorable.
The whole family was really relaxed and great to work with. I particularly happy when we got a lovely golden hour sun peering through the trees at the right time too. On this location, there is a little “secret garden” and when we got there I asked Lottie to run to the garden. The sun came out right at the right time and created this beautiful magical moment.
Once we were in the secret garden we took a few pictures in different spots. I then asked Kayleigh to pick up Lottie and I wanted to capture candid mum and daughter moments. At some point, they both started to giggle and instead of normal kisses were doing eyelash kisses. It was another cute moment and I loved how they created this their own. I hope they will remember the eyelash kisses for a long time.
Towards the end of this beautiful session we had some quiet time and cuddles. We were also very blessed when the moon came out and I managed to capture when family was sitting on the blanket cuddling up.
So here it is the little story of when I met jelly and learned how to do eyelash kisses.
I truly loved this maternity photo session and could not have asked for anything else. The evening, family and the atmosphere was just lovely and I will remember this session for a long time.
If you are an expecting mum and are thinking about maternity or family photo session, please get in touch and I would love to create special moments for you to treasure for years to come.
Till next time
