What a year we have had so far! COVID-19 has hit us all. We were certainly not expecting anything like that! Who would have thought that for about 7 weeks the UK would be in a full lockdown? For myself and my family, this time was certainly one that will be in our memories for years.
Lockdown also meant I couldn’t do the job that I love and photograph happy memories for families. I have however focused on my family and was documenting our life during a lockdown. I’ve learned a lot about myself and my family. We laughed, we cried, we enjoyed simple family games and treasured daily walks. I have also enjoyed watching my girls getting closer to each other.
Family doorstep photo sessions
I was still however missing the connection with people and after the government lifted the lockdown restrictions my first aim was to document other families and their lives by doing family doorstep photo sessions. I’ve had the privilege to photograph 15 wonderful families in front of their houses and capture that happiness and love they have for each other. I’ve photographed doctors, nurses, key workers, wonderful parents and a beautiful couple who unfortunately had their wedding postponed.
Each session was very special, and it felt so good to be out again and shooting. I was also so pleased with clients communication. All families looked so lovely and prepared for the session. During the lockdown, I had a little bit more time to update client welcome guides and was so pleased to send them over to new clients. I’ve received lovely feedback saying that the guide helped them a lot with picking out their outfits.
I will remember those family doorstep photo sessions for a very long time. They just reminded me how much I love family photography and creating memories for others to cherish with their loved ones.
Till next time
