I love outdoor family sessions and I love them even more if there is a reason to celebrate. This gorgeous mum contacted me for a family session to celebrate her son’s first birthday. As I don’t have a studio or do cake smash sessions I was pleased to hear this mum wanted something natural and outdoors.
They live in London and we originally planned a session in one of the parks. After a discussion, we settled on a beautiful common in Surrey. I have photographed there before. I knew it would be a great place for the session.
Both parents had an incredible connection with their son. They were attentive and wanted to make sure he enjoyed the time outside.
Their little boy is currently in a stage of wanting to run everywhere and explore. I enjoyed watching him running and walking with mummy and daddy and holding hands.
He loved being thrown in the air and pretended to be an aeroplane. He was pointing and listening to the birds in the sky and was also interested in passing dogs on their walks.
During the session, we set the blanket to celebrate his first birthday. His mum prepared little cupcakes on a plate which she and dad made for him for his birthday. It was a great idea and I loved the handmade plate.
We enjoyed looking at the little boy eating the cupcake and celebrating his birthday.
I think celebrating your child’s first birthday is a great idea and this session proves you don’t need to have anything too staged to work. Outdoor sessions are perfect for families and I can’t wait to shoot more of these sessions in the coming months.
If your family needs updating the family gallery on a wall, do get in touch and I will be more than happy to assist.
Till next time
