When I arrive at client homes I often get asked what type of photo sessions are my favourite. It is a very tricky question because I think every session is so unique. Of course, sessions have some similarities in them but each time I photograph different families, the session itself is special.
In my family photo sessions, I love to see parents’ and children’s interactions. I like to see how they talk to each other, and how they hold hands. I enjoy listening to kids’ giggles, stories and laughs.
Maternity photo sessions are all about connection and love. To capture and see how mums to be glow is just beautiful.
As to my newborn photo shoots, then my main aim is to focus on a family’s unconditional love for a newborn baby. I love observing how mums gently touch their newborn babies and care for them. Dads are also great with their newborn babies and albeit sometimes camera-shy, they always show so much love and happiness when they hold their babies.
I could probably write a list of how many different newborn poses are ideal during a newborn photoshoot but today I would like to share a few of my favourites.
Yawn
This image is probably of my top images to take! It is such iconic newborn baby action that I simply must take!
Feet and hands
We all say “enjoy those little hands and feet as they grow so fast”. I agree with this statement 100%. I therefore always lookout to capture hands and feet. I always try combination images such as just feet or hands and also when parents hold babies’ feet or have their fingers wrapped around babies’ tiny hands.
Mum, dad and a newborn baby close cuddle
I am not afraid to say to parents get super close and cuddle. Enjoy these moments and remember them forever. In those pictures happiness just flourish!
Newborn in the nappy
I adore newborn outfits but at the same time, I feel it is important to capture a newborn baby just in a nappy. I think for a parent it is great to remember how their newborn baby looked without any additional outfits.
There are many more newborn poses but I think I will share them with you in my next blog.
In the meantime, I hope you enjoyed reading about my favourite newborn poses and get some inspiration too. For more newborn photoshoot ideas check out my portfolio and blogs.
Till next time
