Do you remember the moment you found out that you were pregnant? I remember an immediate feeling of love and happiness filling my heart. It was a moment I will never forget. At the same time, I knew I had 9 months to get organised! I like planning so it was right up my street. Little did I know the 9 months would fly by and although I thought I was ready, there were still lots of things to be sorted.
One of the things that I didn’t manage to get sorted before the birth, was booking a newborn photo session. I got it sorted after having Sophie. Recently, I received a few client requests for newborn photoshoots after the baby was born and thought back to the same moment. Mums to be, have a lot to prepare and get ready for. There is a nursery to build, clothes to buy and in some cases mums already have older children to look after.
When clients message me saying their baby is with them and they would love a photo session I jump with joy. I am happy for them and it also means I can meet the family within the next couple of weeks. That is super exciting. The photo session planning stage still goes ahead and I send a client guide, what to wear guide and a questionnaire to each family. We create a plan and a newborn photo session is usually booked within 1-2 weeks of the first enquiry.
The same thing happened with this beautiful family. Kirsten messaged me when her second baby daughter was just 8 days old. After our initial e-mails, we scheduled our session for less than a week after. I was super excited to meet the whole family and create beautiful images for them. Within a day I sent Kirsten a sneak peek and the whole gallery in less than a couple of weeks’ time. I also received this beautiful message from Kirsty saying:
“You are a star! I cried looking at these last night (in a good way!) I’m so excited to share them, thank you. They are beautiful.”
I do enjoy spontaneous planning and I can say that it is never too late for booking your newborn photo shoot. If you manage to book it whilst pregnant that’s great, but if not I am here for you. We can schedule our newborn photoshoot as little as a couple of days after the initial email. It’s never too late!
