When I was expecting for the first time I was nesting. I wanted to make sure everything was ready for the arrival of the new arrival. I was going to baby events, searching for the best offers online. We took multiple trips to baby shops testing strollers and baby carriers.
I like to plan things therefore all this preparation was up my street. The nesting period was real for me.
Now, a few years on, when I go to my newborn sessions, I often ask mums how they prepared their home before the baby’s arrival. After this question, I usually receive mixed replies. Some parents like to be on top of everything. They planned together, they decorated the newborn baby’s room. They wanted to make sure everything was ready for the new arrival. Other parents said they were getting ready but did the preparation more casually and not changing too much in their homes.
You might now say what should you do? Should you nest and get everything right or get the basics done?
To be perfectly honest with you I think both approaches are ok. At the end of the day, you want to make sure your baby arrives into this world healthy. All the baby needs is your unconditional love and care. Your baby will look up to you and learn everything from you. Getting ready and excited is a part of the magical experience, however, do it your way. Do what feels right for you and your family. You are the most important person for the baby. Your newborn baby will love you regardless of how much preparation you have managed.
